President To Lam Meets with Vietnamese Intellectuals in Houston

New York, The Gulf Observer: On Sunday morning, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam met with a group of Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston, as part of his visit to the United States to attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79).

During the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his joy in reconnecting with the familiar Vietnamese intellectuals and extended his best wishes and warm regards to the Vietnamese community in the United States. He reaffirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam consider overseas Vietnamese an integral part of the nation and emphasized the vital contributions of the diaspora to both the development of the U.S. and the strengthening of Vietnam-U.S. relations.

The top leader expressed deep appreciation for the dedication, vision, and practical contributions made by overseas Vietnamese intellectuals. “No matter where they reside, their enduring ties to their homeland have been a testament to their loyalty and love for Vietnam,” he said. He further encouraged the Vietnamese intellectuals in the U.S. and worldwide to continue uniting their efforts to contribute to Vietnam’s future, helping usher in a new era of progress.

Speaking on behalf of the intellectuals in Houston, Vũ Văn Lê expressed his emotions upon meeting General Secretary and President To Lam after many years. He highlighted his pride in Vietnam’s heroic history and the country’s steady progress, despite living and working in the U.S. for several years.

“Vietnamese blood runs through me, and generations of Vietnamese intellectuals have never stopped thinking about Vietnam or contributing their knowledge and efforts toward a prosperous future for our country,” Lê remarked. He emphasized that Vietnamese individuals excel in every professional field, from engineering and medicine to technology, and reaffirmed his desire to make meaningful contributions to Vietnam’s development.

Lê also expressed hope that the younger generation of Vietnamese intellectuals in the U.S. and abroad would continue to look toward their homeland and make even greater contributions to the nation’s advancement.

On this occasion, the group of Vietnamese intellectuals presented a donation of US$10,000 to support localities in Vietnam recently affected by Typhoon Yagi.
