President Xi Jinping Leads Ceremony Honoring Fallen Heroes on Martyrs' Day

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with other Party and state leaders, attended a solemn ceremony at Tian’anmen Square on Monday to present flower baskets in honor of the nation’s fallen heroes. The event marked Martyrs’ Day, observed annually on the eve of National Day, and took place as China celebrates the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

At approximately 10 a.m., President Xi, accompanied by senior officials including Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng, arrived at Tian’anmen Square. They were joined by representatives from various sectors of society, including veterans, families of martyrs, national medal recipients, role models, students, and children—over 2,400 people in total.

The ceremony commenced with the singing of the national anthem, followed by a moment of silence to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of the Chinese people and the establishment and development of the PRC.

Nine large flower baskets, each bearing ribbons inscribed with “Eternal Glory to the People’s Heroes,” were carefully placed before the Monument to the People’s Heroes, a symbol of the nation’s gratitude for their sacrifices.

President Xi, accompanied by other top leaders, approached the monument and adjusted the ribbons on the flower baskets before leading a solemn walk around the monument to pay their respects to the martyrs.

The ceremony was presided over by Yin Li, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Beijing’s Party chief. This annual observance underscores China’s deep respect for its history and those who contributed to the country’s liberation and progress.

Martyrs’ Day, observed on September 30, is a significant event in China, honoring the memory of the nation’s heroes and their enduring contributions to the country’s independence and prosperity.
