Sultan of Brunei Arrives in Jakarta for Indonesian Presidential Inauguration

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in Jakarta

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrived in Jakarta yesterday to attend the inauguration ceremony of Indonesia’s new president and vice-president, scheduled for today.

Upon his arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, His Majesty was warmly welcomed by Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin. The ceremonial reception included His Majesty walking past a static guard to the special dais, where he received the salute of honour. The national anthems of both Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia were played, followed by a 21-gun salute in recognition of His Majesty’s visit.

Brunei Darussalam’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir, and Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Achmad Ubaedillah, were also present to greet His Majesty.

Earlier in Brunei, before departing from Istana Nurul Iman, a Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned. Members of the royal family, along with senior officials, were present at the Sultan’s Flight Hangar in Rimba to bid farewell to His Majesty.

The Sultan’s visit underscores the strong ties between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia, further solidifying the cooperation and friendship between the two Southeast Asian nations.
