Iran Air Establishes Daily Flights to Istanbul
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran Air spokesman Hessam Ghorbanali announced on Monday that the airline has initiated daily flights between Tehran and Istanbul, effective October 15, to facilitate travel for European passengers. Ghorbanali emphasized that the move aims to ease travel concerns for European travelers.
“With the aim of facilitating travel and reducing the European travelers’ concerns, we established daily flights from Tehran to Istanbul and vice versa,” Ghorbanali stated.
This announcement comes in the wake of new sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU) on three Iranian airlines, including Iran Air, Mahan Air, and Saha Airlines. The sanctions are a response to unfounded allegations of Iran’s involvement in the Ukraine conflict, specifically regarding the supply of ballistic missiles to Russia.
The EU clarified that these sanctions are intended to deter specific policies and activities of Iran and do not aim to disrupt air traffic or people-to-people communication between the EU and Iran.
In total, the EU has implemented restrictive measures against seven individuals and seven entities. Among those sanctioned are Behnam Shahriari, Ali Shadmani, Ali Jafarabadi, Mehdi Googerdchian, Hamzeh Qalandari, Reza Khosravi Moghaddam, and Mir-Ahmad Noushin. The sanctions also extend to several Iranian companies, including Iran Air, Mahan Air, Saha Airlines, Basamad Electronic Pouya Company, Iran Alumina, Tayef Tadbir Aria, and Shahid Haj Ali Movahed Research Center.
In response to the allegations, Iran has categorically denied any involvement in the Ukraine war, dismissing the claims as baseless and politically motivated, reiterating that the country has not supplied ballistic missiles to Russia.
