China to provide cash and supplies to flood-hit Pakistan.

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: The Red Cross Society of China will provide $300,000 in emergency cash assistance to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Monday.

Pakistan’s army has appealed to the international community for more help, as deadly monsoon flooding has left over a thousand dead in the country. Over 33 million people have been affected, with nearly a million homes destroyed or damaged.

Zhao noted the All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association donated 15 million Pakistani rupees (around $67,500) to the Pakistan Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.

The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and the Embassy of Pakistan in China are contacting relevant enterprises and other sectors of society to raise funds, he added.

Last week, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said China is donating another batch of emergency humanitarian supplies to Pakistan, including 25,000 tents and other supplies in dire need.
