Kazakhstan Strengthens Investor Support Throughout Project Lifecycle

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan is taking steps to strengthen its investment attraction and support system, with a focus on providing comprehensive assistance to investors throughout the entire lifecycle of projects, media reported.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov chaired a meeting on Thursday devoted to improving the effectiveness of Kazakhstan’s investment policy in line with tasks set by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as part of the launch of a new investment cycle.
The meeting examined measures to enhance engagement with investors from the initial stage of identifying promising investment opportunities through project implementation and post-investment support, including expansion and reinvestment.
The proposed measures are intended to reduce the time required for approval procedures, accelerate project launches and facilitate subsequent expansion and export development. Particular attention was given to the use of digital tools to improve interaction between investors and government bodies responsible for supporting investment projects.
Participants also discussed the development of a more proactive investment policy in international markets. The Prime Minister was presented with an assessment of the performance of government agencies and organizations involved in attracting investors, including their effectiveness in converting investment initiatives into actual projects and ensuring the timely commissioning of completed facilities.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, Presidential Aide for Economic Affairs Nurlan Baibazarov, Presidential Adviser and Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms Asset Irgaliyev, Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi and Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev took part in the discussions on establishing a unified investment management system.
Bektenov said the Head of State had instructed the government to fundamentally update Kazakhstan’s investment policy mechanisms. Against the backdrop of growing global competition for capital, he stressed the need to maintain a predictable and favorable investment climate.
Following the meeting, the Ministry of National Economy, together with relevant government agencies and organizations, was tasked with preparing a specific action plan to improve the country’s existing investment attraction and support system.
Kazakhstan’s investment support framework already provides for assistance during pre-investment, investment and post-investment stages, including project roadmaps, coordination with government agencies and continued support after projects become operational.
