ADJD, Australian Embassy Host Legal Awareness Workshop for Foreign Community in UAE
Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), in partnership with the Australian Embassy in the UAE, held a workshop to showcase its cutting-edge legal services tailored for the foreign community. This initiative aligns with the ADJD’s ongoing efforts to enhance legal awareness and provide innovative judicial and notarial services to non-Arabic speaking residents.
The event was part of the ADJD’s strategy to foster legal education and support the UAE’s vision for a more inclusive and transparent legal system under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The session aimed to boost legal understanding, streamline judicial access, and attract foreign investments by emphasizing high-caliber services available to expatriates.
Highlights of the Workshop:
- Civil Marriage Law No. 14/2021 and Civil Family Court: Participants learned about the provisions of Abu Dhabi’s Civil Marriage Law and the establishment of the Civil Family Court, designed to offer flexible solutions to personal status matters for foreigners living in the emirate.
- English Notary Services Bureau: As the first of its kind in the Middle East, the bureau was highlighted for expediting the certification of legal documents in English. This service simplifies documentation processes, promotes efficient access to justice, and enhances customer satisfaction.
- Foreign Experts Court: Established in 2019, this specialized court handles commercial disputes, investment-related issues, and business conflicts for foreign investors. The court issues rulings in both Arabic and English, facilitating accessibility and understanding for foreign entities operating in the UAE.
Through such initiatives, the ADJD aims to set a benchmark for judicial services while creating a competitive, transparent, and investor-friendly environment in Abu Dhabi.
