President Mirziyoyev Discusses Energy Sector Modernization with Aksa Energy CEO

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting with Cemil Kazancı, Chairman and CEO of the Turkish company Aksa Energy, to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation and advancing energy sector projects in Uzbekistan.

During the discussions, President Mirziyoyev acknowledged Aksa Energy’s significant contributions to the development of Uzbekistan’s energy infrastructure. Notable achievements include the successful implementation of modern power plants in the Tashkent and Bukhara regions, boasting a combined capacity of 740 megawatts.

The meeting coincided with the launch ceremony of a new 400-megawatt power plant in the Nishan district of Kashkadarya region. This facility is expected to bolster energy supply and contribute to the country’s industrial growth.

Focus on Green Energy and Modernization
Both sides discussed future-oriented initiatives aimed at diversifying and modernizing Uzbekistan’s energy sector. Key projects under consideration include:

  • Upgrading gas distribution systems.
  • Constructing biogas stations.
  • Ensuring sustainable energy supply to industrial zones.

These initiatives are part of a comprehensive bilateral roadmap, reflecting the commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and integrating renewable energy sources into Uzbekistan’s power grid.

The collaboration underscores Uzbekistan’s dedication to fostering mutually beneficial partnerships and leveraging advanced technologies to achieve sustainable development in its energy sector.
