Sharjah, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, emphasized the multifaceted significance of youth development during his speech at the fourth edition of the “Sheikh Sultan Award for Celebrating Spirit of Youth.” The ceremony, held on Saturday at Al Badee Palace, honored the achievements of young participants excelling in education, culture, and extracurricular pursuits.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan remarked on the decline in intellectual engagement among youth and stressed the importance of nurturing their minds through structured programs. He highlighted that the initiative begins at the grassroots level, integrating education, upbringing, and extracurricular activities from nurseries to universities. “In Sharjah, we focus on transforming energies that might otherwise be wasted into productive and creative outputs,” he stated.

The Ruler underscored the importance of family stability as a foundation for children’s success, emphasizing Sharjah’s comprehensive approach to providing housing, healthcare, and employment. “A stable home ensures the future of our children, allowing them to grow in dignity and pride,” he added.

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan reflected on Sharjah’s progress over 50 years, transitioning from a community burdened by illiteracy to one grounded in education, faith, and cultural heritage. He highlighted efforts to preserve the Arabic language, including the ongoing Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language and the newly launched Comprehensive Arabic Encyclopedia, which will encompass literature, arts, and sciences.

In addressing youth directly, Sheikh Dr. Sultan urged them to prioritize meaningful knowledge over distractions. He reflected on his own pursuit of education under challenging circumstances, emphasizing the need for intellectual growth and personal development. “Knowledge is not merely written words; it resides in the mind,” he said.

The Ruler expressed hope that the youth would uphold their Arab identity and faith, noting that a conscious and faithful heart protects against harmful influences. He advised participants to refine their language, writing, and calligraphy skills, as these are essential tools for cultural preservation and personal growth.

The “Sheikh Sultan Award for Celebrating Spirit of Youth” continues to grow, with increasing numbers of participants contributing to Sharjah’s vision of nurturing well-rounded, knowledgeable, and morally grounded individuals. Sheikh Dr. Sultan reaffirmed his commitment to advancing human development and education as key pillars of Sharjah’s progress.
