Kazakh and Guinea-Bissau Presidents Hold Talks to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló engaged in discussions in Astana, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral relations between their nations, according to the Akorda press service.

During the talks, President Tokayev highlighted the importance of Guinea-Bissau as a key partner for Kazakhstan in Africa, stating, “We are interested in strengthening bilateral relations. We have good prospects, especially as the governments of both nations work together to identify more opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.” He also noted that both countries share common views on critical international issues and expressed readiness to expand collaboration in key global forums, particularly within the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

President Tokayev outlined several areas with significant potential for growth in bilateral ties, particularly in agriculture, mining, digitalization, and transport and logistics.

In response, President Embaló expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, recalling his previous visit to Kazakhstan as Prime Minister. He also noted the historical presence of Guinea-Bissau students in Kazakhstan and emphasized the potential for further cooperation in education, recognizing the valuable lessons Kazakhstan has to offer.

Both leaders also discussed pressing global and regional issues, sharing their perspectives on challenges and opportunities for cooperation.

Earlier, President Tokayev had formally welcomed President Umaro Sissoco Embaló to the Akorda Palace, marking the beginning of this high-level diplomatic engagement.
