Ashgabat Hosts Second Steering Committee Meeting for EU’s Green Turkmenistan Project

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The second meeting of the Steering Committee for the EU for a Green Turkmenistan: Political Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024–2028 project was held in Ashgabat, marking a significant step in strengthening environmental cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union.

According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the meeting took place on Thursday with the support of the European Union and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). Representatives from the EU, Germany, and key Turkmen ministries participated, including officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, the Turkmengaz State Concern, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The project aims to foster political dialogue and joint action between Turkmenistan and the EU on climate policy, facilitate the adoption of eco-friendly technologies, and support climate adaptation measures. This initiative is part of the broader Green Central Asia program, which seeks to enhance regional environmental and climate cooperation.

The discussions in Ashgabat underscore the shared commitment of Turkmenistan and the European Union to advancing sustainable development and addressing climate challenges in the region.
