Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, visited a state multidisciplinary specialized preschool educational institution and the “Imkon” rehabilitation centre in Samarkand during her visit to Uzbekistan on October 21.

During the visit, Aliyeva was briefed on the educational, medical and social rehabilitation services provided to children at the two facilities.

The “Imkon” centres offer an integrated range of services, including specialized preschool education, corrective classes, medical and social rehabilitation, and support for families. All educational activities, medical procedures and rehabilitation programmes are provided free of charge.

The preschool units are designed to accommodate 150 children aged between two and seven years, offering educational activities, corrective classes and five meals daily.

Aliyeva toured specially equipped classrooms, rehabilitation halls, sensory integration facilities and aqua therapy spaces. She also familiarized herself with other services designed to support children’s development and improve their quality of life.

The centres employ multidisciplinary teams of specialists, including pediatricians, orthopedists, rehabilitation experts, psychologists, speech therapists and defectologists, who provide comprehensive care tailored to children’s individual needs.

The initiative aims to expand access to quality educational, medical and rehabilitation services for children with special needs, while supporting their development and social integration.

According to the information presented during the visit, more than 546,000 classes and procedures were conducted across the network of “Imkon” centres in 2025. Between 2019 and 2025, the total number of classes and procedures delivered by the centres reached nearly 1.5 million.

The visit highlighted the importance of integrated educational and rehabilitation services in promoting children’s well-being and ensuring greater access to specialized care.
