Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament Showcases Competitive Excellence and Community Participation

Dubai, The Gulf Observer: H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, has lauded the continued success and growth of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, emphasizing its role in fostering competitive excellence and community engagement. Now in its 12th edition, the tournament was originally launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, who remains its sponsor.
Featuring high-level competition across multiple sporting disciplines, the tournament has attracted professional and amateur athletes from across the world, further solidifying its impact on the UAE sporting landscape.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor attended several matches, including padel and volleyball at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, and witnessed the cycling events held at Meydan. He was accompanied by Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE Padel Association; Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council; Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council; Ismail Al Hashemi, First Vice President of the Asian Padel Federation, Second Vice President of the UAE Padel Association, and Member of the Dubai Sports Council; Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council; and Hassan Al Mazrouei, Tournament Director.
Expressing his satisfaction with the tournament’s success, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor highlighted the event’s ability to introduce innovative and world-class sporting competitions. “The Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament consistently challenges itself, attracting international teams, legends, and elite athletes in various sports. This contributes to raising the performance levels of our athletes, who compete alongside global sportspersons,” he said.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor further underscored the tournament’s role in revitalizing sports interest among communities while ensuring inclusive participation. “This tournament has witnessed an annual increase in participation, exceeding 8,000 athletes, both professional and amateur, including male and female competitors. The event has created a vibrant sporting atmosphere for fans and families, offering high-quality action during the Holy Month. Our commitment remains to continue organizing and enhancing this tournament, ensuring Dubai’s status as a leading global sports destination,” he added.
The tournament has showcased fierce competition, particularly in the padel tournament, which featured international teams alongside the UAE national team, currently ranked No.1 in Asia. Additionally, the volleyball tournament, set to conclude on March 20, boasts international stars alongside local players.
Notable volleyball teams include Zabeel Panthers, featuring players from Belarusian champions Shakhtyor Soligorsk, and Al Hilal, comprising members from top Italian club Grottazzolina. Al Ameed includes athletes from Pallavolo Padova, while Russian teams WVC Dynamo Moscow and Nova Novokuybyshevsk have top-tier players representing Al Tadawi 1 and Tadawi 2, respectively.
H.H. Sheikh Mansoor also engaged with several participating athletes, including people of determination competing in the cycling races. He praised their passion, perseverance, and competitive spirit while reaffirming the tournament’s unwavering support for people of determination through dedicated competitions and diverse sporting opportunities.
