Autogo Launches RoboTaxi Service Trials in Abu Dhabi, Paving the Way for Smart Mobility

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Autogo, a UAE-based autonomous mobility solutions company under Kintsugi Holding, has announced the launch of its RoboTaxi service trials in Abu Dhabi, with full-scale operations expected by 2026.

The initiative is part of a strategic partnership with Apollo Go, the autonomous mobility subsidiary of Baidu, a global leader in large-scale self-driving transportation. This collaboration aims to bring next-generation mobility technologies to the streets of Abu Dhabi, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to smart and sustainable urban transport.

The operational trials are being conducted in coordination with Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) to ensure compliance with local transport strategies, regulatory frameworks, and infrastructure requirements. This step aligns with the emirate’s broader efforts to enhance smart mobility and integrate cutting-edge technology into its transportation ecosystem.

Designed to provide a seamless and intelligent transportation experience, the RoboTaxi fleet features advanced electric vehicles equipped with AI-driven systems that ensure precise, consistent, and real-time responsive driving. Beyond simplifying mobility, the initiative seeks to enhance road safety by minimizing human driving errors while contributing to sustainability through reduced emissions and alleviated traffic congestion.

The 6th generation RT6 RoboTaxi, developed specifically for autonomous ride-hailing, boasts a safer, smarter, and more comfortable design. Apollo Go, the first company in China to offer fully autonomous ride-hailing, continues to integrate AI, big data, and automation to support the development of future smart cities.

Sean Teo, Managing Director of Kintsugi Holding, emphasized the transformative potential of the RoboTaxi initiative. “The launch of RoboTaxi trials in Abu Dhabi marks the beginning of a large-scale transformation in urban mobility. RoboTaxis serve two key goals — enhancing road safety and achieving more sustainable transportation,” he stated.

Teo further noted that Autogo and Apollo Go will work together to test the vehicles’ performance in real-world environments, engage with the public, and prepare for broader deployment across Abu Dhabi by 2026.

Apollo Go, also known as Luobo Kuaipao, is a global leader in autonomous ride-hailing services. Its fleets have logged over 150 million kilometers of autonomous driving with a strong safety record. By March 2025, the platform had surpassed 10 million autonomous ride orders, reinforcing its position as a pioneer in the field.

As Abu Dhabi continues to position itself at the forefront of smart mobility solutions, the introduction of RoboTaxi trials marks a significant milestone in the journey toward a safer, greener, and more efficient urban transport network.
