Leyla Aliyeva Visits Beijing Foreign Studies University

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, paid an official visit to Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), underscoring the growing educational and cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and China.

During the visit, Leyla Aliyeva met with Zhao Gang, Vice President of BFSU, and held discussions with Chinese students currently studying the Azerbaijani language. The meeting served as a platform to highlight the vital role of youth in deepening bilateral relations and to review joint initiatives in the field of education that have contributed to closer ties between the two nations.

The significance of the Azerbaijani Language Department at BFSU was particularly emphasized. The department plays a key role in studying, researching, and promoting Azerbaijani culture while also contributing to the training of specialists in the Azerbaijani language. In addition to language instruction, the department offers courses in Azerbaijani history, literature, and cultural studies.

The visit also celebrated nearly a decade of successful collaboration between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and BFSU. Notably, distance Chinese language courses have been conducted at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) since 2019, initiated and supported by Leyla Aliyeva.

As part of the discussions, both sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding later this year to formalize and enhance future cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and BFSU.

Following the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva toured the Azerbaijani Language Department, where she was briefed on forthcoming initiatives aimed at further expanding its scope and activities. The visit also highlighted the significance of Azerbaijani-language publications produced by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, including those translated into Chinese, in promoting Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage and values internationally.
