Iran and Switzerland to Convene Third Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Tehran

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iran and Switzerland have announced plans to hold the third session of their Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Tehran, with a particular emphasis on enhancing collaboration in the health sector.
The decision was revealed following a bilateral meeting between Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education Mohammad-Reza Zafarghandi and Swiss Federal Councillor and Minister of the Interior Elisabeth Baume-Schneider on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.
During their discussions, the two ministers explored avenues to further deepen bilateral relations, with a focus on public health cooperation. Minister Zafarghandi underscored Iran’s commitment to supporting Swiss healthcare companies operating under international sanctions, highlighting the establishment of a dedicated “Swiss Desk” within Iran’s Ministry of Health to address challenges and streamline operations for Swiss enterprises.
“We value the presence of Swiss companies during difficult times and believe both countries can benefit from each other’s experience in various areas of health,” Zafarghandi stated.
Minister Baume-Schneider welcomed Iran’s continued engagement in international health initiatives and praised its active role in combating substance abuse. She reiterated Switzerland’s dedication to global health cooperation, emphasizing the country’s unique role as host to the World Health Organization.
“In the face of evolving global health challenges, Switzerland is committed to reinforcing international partnerships and dialogue,” Schneider said.
The upcoming commission session is expected to serve as a platform for both nations to formalize new agreements and promote shared health priorities, further solidifying long-standing diplomatic and economic ties between Iran and Switzerland.
