Araqchi Deems Iran-U.S. Talks "Unjustifiable" Amid Continued Israeli Aggression

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Saturday strongly criticized the continuation of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, calling them “unjustifiable” in light of ongoing Israeli military actions.

In a telephone conversation with Kaja Kallas, the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Araqchi said the continued aggression by the Israeli regime was a direct consequence of Washington’s support.

“Continuing negotiations between Iran and the U.S. in a situation where the Zionist regime’s savagery continues is unjustifiable,” the foreign minister said.

Araqchi reaffirmed Iran’s determination to defend its national sovereignty, security, and people, stressing that Iran had given a decisive and lawful response to Israel’s recent attacks. He underlined that Iran reserves the right to take legitimate countermeasures under international law.

He also urged the European Union and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to adopt a responsible stance by condemning the Israeli aggression and ensuring the occupying regime is held accountable.

Referring to the recent anti-Iran resolution passed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Araqchi said the move served as a pretext for Israel’s hostile actions against Iran.

For her part, the EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, voiced deep concern over the growing regional tensions. She reiterated the European Union’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts within the Security Council and other international frameworks to de-escalate the situation and restore peace and stability in the region.
