President Tokayev Signs Law Advancing Urban Development, Governance Reforms, and National Projects

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Thursday signed into law a comprehensive package of amendments and additions aimed at advancing the development of the capital and cities of republican significance, optimizing government functions, and facilitating the implementation of key national projects, according to a statement from the Akorda press service.

The newly adopted legislative package encompasses several strategic areas, including urban development, land legislation, and customs regulation. Notable provisions include the introduction of a foreigners’ registration office, decentralization of powers between various levels of government, simplification of legal regulations for businesses, and enhancements to government audit mechanisms.The amendments also address the implementation of the national project to modernize the energy and utilities sectors, along with improvements to the legal framework governing appraisal activities.

This legislative move follows President Tokayev’s recent meeting with Alikhan Smailov, Chair of the Supreme Audit Chamber, during which matters related to government audit and public spending oversight were discussed. The reform package is expected to contribute significantly to Kazakhstan’s socio-economic modernization and administrative efficiency.
