President Ilham Aliyev Inaugurates Aghdam City Secondary School No. 1 as Part of Educational Revitalisation Efforts in Liberated Territories

Aghdam, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today inaugurated Aghdam City Secondary School No. 1, a state-of-the-art educational facility designed to accommodate 960 students, as part of the ongoing efforts to restore and modernise infrastructure in the liberated territories.

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev provided a comprehensive briefing to the President on the newly established facilities. The foundation stone for the school had been laid by President Ilham Aliyev on May 28, 2021, and in February 2025, the President, accompanied by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, inspected the progress of construction.

The new school has been constructed within the framework of the “First State Program on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.” The facility includes 43 classrooms, 16 administrative offices, and a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) center consisting of seven rooms.In addition to a strong focus on science and technology education, the school is equipped with modern physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, an informatics room, a pre-military training room, a library, and a museum.

The infrastructure also features a 352-seat canteen, a 468-seat assembly hall, two indoor sports halls, and outdoor facilities including a football pitch and basketball court, available to both teachers and students.

The inauguration of Aghdam City Secondary School No. 1 marks another significant step in the comprehensive rebuilding of Karabakh’s educational infrastructure. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Government of Azerbaijan continues to prioritise the development of modern, inclusive, and high-quality education systems across the liberated regions.

This initiative stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring that children in Aghdam and other restored areas have access to world-class learning environments, fostering both academic excellence and holistic development.
