Iranian and Russian Defense Ministers Hold Strategic Talks in Moscow

Moscow

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, announced on Monday that Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh met with his Russian counterpart, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, during an official visit to Moscow.

Speaking to media outlets, Ambassador Jalali described the meeting as strategic in nature, focusing on the expansion of bilateral defense and military cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the growing importance of Iran-Russia collaboration in the current geopolitical climate.

The Iranian Defense Minister’s visit follows his participation in a high-level meeting on Sunday at the Kremlin, where senior Iranian official Ali Larijani, adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ambassador Jalali noted that these engagements reflect the deepening diplomatic and political ties between Tehran and Moscow. Both nations have maintained close relations in recent years and share a common stance in resisting Western sanctions and external pressure.

In January, Iran and Russia signed a Comprehensive Strategic Agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors, including economy, science, technology, culture, and tourism. The defense dialogue in Moscow is seen as a continuation of efforts to solidify this strategic partnership.
