Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on Monday inaugurated National Data Centre No.1 and its accompanying national database system, describing the project as a milestone of special strategic significance in Vietnam’s digital transformation journey.

Developed by the Ministry of Public Security over nearly two years, the centre is located at the Hoà Lạc Hi-Tech Park in Hà Nội. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, it is regarded as the “heart” of national digital transformation and the “brain” supporting the country’s aspirations for prosperity and modernisation.

Covering more than 20 hectares, National Data Centre No.1 is among the largest facilities of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is also the first national-level data centre in Việt Nam to receive top-tier international certification, ensuring resilience against disasters and the highest standards of security and safety.

In his remarks, PM Chính affirmed that science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation are not only an inevitable trend but also a strategic choice, essential requirement, and responsibility of the entire Party, armed forces, and people. He underlined that these efforts aim to fulfil the vision of a strong, affluent nation where citizens enjoy prosperity and happiness, as directed by Party General Secretary Tô Lâm.

The Prime Minister noted that the successful completion of the centre reflects the pioneering role of the public security force in national digital transformation. It also demonstrates Việt Nam’s determination to turn challenges into opportunities and the impossible into possible, driven by innovation, creativity, and self-reliance.

PM Chính stressed that the most important outcome of the project lies in its direct benefits for citizens and businesses, such as reducing time in administrative procedures, facilitating production and business growth, and enhancing quality of life.

Looking ahead, he emphasised that the inauguration of Centre No.1 is only the first step. With plans to establish Centres No.2 and No.3, the government aims to further unlock the full potential of the national database system. He urged the centre to serve as the “heart” of Vietnam’s digital transformation — ensuring secure, reliable, and open data sharing across all sectors of society.

“Data must be recognised as a strategic resource and a new national asset,” PM Chính said, highlighting its critical role in policymaking, sustainable socio-economic development, defence and security, and national competitiveness. He also underscored the importance of applying international standards, ensuring the highest levels of cybersecurity, and fostering artificial intelligence, particularly homegrown Vietnamese AI.

The Prime Minister reiterated that human resources are the decisive factor, calling on staff of the National Data Centre to combine passion, intelligence, and creativity while always prioritising the interests of citizens and businesses.

He assigned ministries, sectors, and agencies to ensure sufficient human resources, funding, technical standards, and international cooperation to strengthen the centre’s operations.

Expressing strong confidence in the project’s success, PM Chính said that with political will, solidarity, creativity, and a bold vision, the Ministry of Public Security and the centre’s workforce will continue to lead the nation’s digital transformation efforts.
