Iran, Iraq Vow to Deepen Scientific and Academic Cooperation

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Science, Research and Technology Hossein Simaei-Sarraf has highlighted the strong bonds of affection and friendship between the people of Iran and Iraq as a solid foundation for strengthening bilateral scientific and cultural relations.
Simaei-Sarraf made the remarks during a meeting with Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Hayder Abed Dhahad, in Tehran on Saturday. The two sides discussed expanding academic exchanges, signing new memorandums of understanding, and implementing joint documents to boost scientific cooperation.
The Iranian minister underlined ongoing efforts to grant scholarships to Iraqi students and facilitate their enrolment in Iranian universities. He noted that progress has already been made following “Iraq Week” held last year, particularly in areas such as student and faculty exchanges.
For his part, Abed Dhahad commended joint research projects and emphasized that new agreements on scholarships and academic exchanges would further deepen bilateral ties. “One of our goals is for Iraqi students to study in the best universities in Iran,” he said.
He also praised Iran’s scientific and technological achievements, describing them as a model that could contribute to Iraq’s scientific development. Additionally, the Iraqi official congratulated Iran on what he termed its “victory” in the recent 12-day conflict with Israel, while offering condolences for the lives lost, including among Iranian scientists.
