Anwar Ibrahim Calls for Immediate Humanitarian Access to Gaza, Reaffirms Malaysia’s Support for Global Flotilla Mission

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: On September 30, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the opening of immediate and unrestricted humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip, warning that any obstruction would only worsen the suffering of its already critical population.

Speaking during his daily briefing at the Prime Minister’s Office, Anwar confirmed that Malaysia is closely monitoring the progress of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which the country supports under its humanitarian initiative, Sumud Nusantara.

“The courage and resilience of activists participating in this mission deeply reflect the compassion and commitment of Malaysians to the plight of the people in Gaza,” Anwar said, in remarks conveyed by his senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah.

Tunku Nashrul noted that the GSF — carrying essential supplies including food and medicines alongside a call for peace — has entered the “yellow zone” in international waters, where its participants face potential threats, including drone attacks.

The Prime Minister emphasized that both the Government and Malaysian citizens stand united in backing the effort, in line with the principles of solidarity and justice outlined in the Malaysia Madani agenda. He also called on Malaysians to remain steadfast in prayer and provide moral and material support for the initiative.

A total of 34 Malaysians are among the activists from 45 countries aboard the flotilla, which seeks to breach the blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian assistance on the ground. Malaysia was the first country to officially recognize the mission.
