Brazilian Representative Highlights Key Role of Iranian Red Crescent in BRICS Civil Council Humanitarian Initiatives

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The Brazilian representative to the BRICS Civil Council, Marco Fernandes, has emphasized the significant role of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) in advancing the Council’s humanitarian initiatives. During a meeting with the Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Pir-Hossein Koulivand, Fernandes highlighted that the IRCS’s strong capacity and extensive experience in conducting humanitarian operations at both national and international levels would be highly effective in the activities of the BRICS Civil Council.

Fernandes noted that his visit to several countries, including Iran, aimed to strengthen cooperation and exchange views on joint initiatives within the Council. Expressing his satisfaction with the meeting, he said, “As co-chair of the health working group, the Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society plays an important role, and I am very pleased to have the opportunity to meet and discuss future collaborations.”

He further stated that the Council seeks to implement key actions with the participation of member countries through the sharing of capacities and experiences across various fields, underscoring the Iranian Red Crescent’s vital contribution to these efforts. Fernandes also praised Koulivand’s proposals regarding the need for BRICS member countries to focus on lifting sanctions, describing it as a crucial issue that could serve as a turning point in the current global context for nations affected by such restrictions.
