Malaysian PM Emphasizes Inclusive Social Protection to Benefit All Citizens

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has highlighted the need for social protection programmes to be implemented inclusively, covering the entire nation and all segments of society.

Speaking on the importance of a comprehensive approach, the Prime Minister said that inclusive social protection must extend to essential services such as rehabilitation centres, while also reviewing related laws and regulations to accelerate implementation and ensure maximum benefit for the people.

“Today, I chaired the 9th meeting of the Malaysia Social Protection Council to strengthen policy coordination and the implementation of the national social protection agenda,” he stated in a Facebook post, as reported by the media.

During the meeting, improvements to Padu (Central Database Hub) were noted, along with presentations by PERKESO, the World Bank, and the Economy Ministry, aimed at enhancing Malaysia’s social protection ecosystem.

The Prime Minister emphasized that, as a living document, the social protection plan will continue to evolve in line with rapid technological advancements. “Through an interdisciplinary approach and mission-oriented research, it will drive societal transformation and innovation towards a harmonious, prosperous, technologically advanced, and sustainable nation,” he said.

He further stressed that the blueprint forms a crucial foundation to ensure that Malaysia’s higher education system becomes more inclusive, of higher quality, and competitive, preparing future generations to face ongoing challenges.
