Tajik President Emomali Rahmon Holds Talks with Japanese Emperor to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Tokyo, The Gulf Observer: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on December 19 held talks with Emperor Naruhito of Japan in Tokyo, focusing on further strengthening bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Japan.

According to the press service of the Tajik president, the discussions covered a wide range of areas, including trade and economic cooperation, culture, humanitarian engagement, and other fields of mutual interest. The meeting highlighted the broad scope of cooperation between the two countries and their shared commitment to expanding partnership across multiple sectors.

President Rahmon expressed appreciation for Japan’s continued support for small and medium-sized projects in Tajikistan, particularly in infrastructure, transport, energy, agriculture, and environmental protection. He also acknowledged Japan’s contributions to human resource development, healthcare services, and sanitation initiatives. The two leaders exchanged views on additional opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.

On the same day, President Rahmon also met with Taro Aso, Deputy Leader of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party and former Prime Minister of Japan, in Tokyo.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the meeting focused on the development of bilateral cooperation and the role of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue in further strengthening ties between Tajikistan and Japan.

President Rahmon praised Taro Aso for his significant contribution to the advancement of Tajik-Japanese relations and acknowledged his role in promoting closer partnership between the two countries.

The Tajik leader also highlighted the important contributions of the Japanese government to the implementation of key projects in Tajikistan, including those related to infrastructure development, water supply, healthcare, energy capacity building, and human resource development.

The meeting concluded with a constructive exchange on other matters of mutual interest, reaffirming both sides’ commitment to deepening cooperation and strengthening long-term relations.
