Azerbaijan Army Marks Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and New Year with Nationwide Events

Baku, The Gulf Observer: In accordance with a plan approved by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Azerbaijan Army organized a series of events across all troops, forces, and special educational institutions to commemorate 31 December – the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis – alongside New Year celebrations.
The events commenced with tributes to the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and to the Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed with accompaniment from a military band.
During the events, speeches highlighted the historical significance of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis, emphasizing national unity, devotion to the country, respect for moral values, and love for Azerbaijan. It was noted that on 16 December 1991, during a meeting of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic chaired by Heydar Aliyev, a decision was made to designate 31 December as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. Subsequently, on 25 December 1991, the National Council of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Azerbaijan officially approved the day through a legislative act.
The commemorations also celebrated the exceptional contributions of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and acknowledged the achievements of his successor, President Ilham Aliyev, in continuing and advancing the political course set by the National Leader.
As part of the events, military personnel attended documentary screenings, participated in roundtable discussions, and engaged in quizzes designed to reinforce loyalty to the Motherland, national values, and moral principles. Concert programs presented by the Hazi Aslanov Army Ideological and Cultural Center, the Ganja Garrison Ideological and Cultural Center, and district cultural centers were met with enthusiasm and acclaim.
In the spirit of the holidays, military personnel also visited the families of Martyrs, presenting them with festive gifts in recognition of their sacrifices.
