Turkmenistan, Iran Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and 2026 Agenda

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On January 12, 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Ali Mojtaba Rouzbahani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan, to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on key aspects of Turkmenistan–Iran relations, focusing on the current state and prospects of cooperation across various sectors. Particular attention was given to matters on the regional and international agenda, reflecting the shared interest of both countries in stability and constructive engagement.
The diplomats also outlined practical steps for 2026 aimed at implementing activities within the framework of previously reached agreements, emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum in bilateral cooperation.
In addition, discussions covered the development of trade and economic relations, as well as the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations through continued dialogue and cooperation across areas of common interest.
