Turkmenistan, CIS Discuss Preparations for October Meetings in Avaza

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have discussed preparations for key meetings scheduled to be held in October under Turkmenistan’s CIS chairmanship.

A meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev and CIS Deputy Secretary General Denis Trefilov was held on September 7 in the National Tourist Zone of Avaza.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the CIS, with particular attention given to preparations for upcoming CIS events to be hosted by Turkmenistan in October.

The officials discussed organizational matters and coordination efforts related to the planned meetings, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, a signing ceremony for the Protocol on the Coordination of Preparation Matters for the Meetings of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Heads of State of the CIS was held on September 8 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The meetings of the CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Heads of State are scheduled for October 7 and 9, respectively, in the National Tourist Zone of Avaza.

The protocol is aimed at ensuring coordinated preparations for the organizational and substantive aspects of the upcoming meetings, which will be held as part of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the CIS in 2026.
