Turkmenistan, EU Discuss Strengthening Cooperation During SPECA Week in Ashgabat

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the European Union’s Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in events organized as part of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) Week.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed the current state and prospects for strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union across areas of mutual interest. They expressed a shared commitment to expanding political-diplomatic dialogue and enhancing the legal framework underpinning bilateral cooperation.
In this context, the parties explored the possibility of organizing high-level meetings and official visits during the course of 2026. The talks also covered cooperation in the field of transport, as well as the development of partnership initiatives in professional education.
Both officials emphasized the importance of continued engagement and collaboration in promoting sustainable economic and social development in the region.
