Türkiye, Iran Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments, De-escalation Efforts

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation on Wednesday to discuss the latest regional developments, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources said.
According to the sources, the talks focused on ongoing efforts to reduce tensions in the region in light of recent developments. The two ministers exchanged views on the evolving situation and the importance of preventing further escalation.
The discussion followed earlier remarks by Fidan, who warned that a potential United States attack on Iran would be “wrong” and called on Washington and Tehran to resolve their differences through diplomacy and dialogue.
The phone call also came amid heightened rhetoric over Iran’s nuclear programme. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday urged Iran to reach an agreement on the issue, warning that any future attack would be “far worse.” The United States previously carried out strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites during the 12-day Iran-Israel conflict in June 2025.
Regional tensions have remained elevated, with Türkiye continuing to advocate diplomatic solutions and de-escalation to preserve stability and security in the Middle East.
