Azerbaijan and UAE Presidents Observe Joint Military Exercise “Peace Shield – 2026

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on February 3 observed the joint operational-tactical exercise Peace Shield – 2026 in Abu Dhabi, conducted with the participation of servicemen from the armed forces of both countries.

The exercise was held across urban, mountainous and maritime environments and included a wide range of operational tasks. These comprised the detection and neutralization of illegal armed groups, the restoration of control over a seized vessel, the neutralization of terrorist elements and the release of hostages, evacuation of the wounded, prevention of riots and sabotage-type activities threatening public security, as well as the conduct of firefighting operations.

Officials said the main objective of Peace Shield – 2026 is to enhance the professional skills and interoperability of military personnel in counterterrorism operations, contribute to lasting peace, and facilitate the exchange of experience between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates.

The joint exercise reflects the growing defense cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UAE and underscores the commitment of both countries to strengthening regional and international security through practical military collaboration.
