Türkiye

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Türkiye and Saudi Arabia are set to enhance their cooperation in the defense industry, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said following his return flight from Cairo.

Speaking to reporters, President Erdogan highlighted growing international interest in Türkiye’s domestically developed stealth fighter jet, KAAN, noting that the project has received significant positive feedback. He stated that a joint investment initiative with Saudi Arabia is already in place and could be implemented at any time.

“We have received a lot of positive feedback on KAAN. There is a joint investment with Saudi Arabia in this area, and we can implement this partnership at any moment,” Erdogan said.

The president emphasized that Ankara and Riyadh have signed “major” defense industry cooperation agreements and underlined Türkiye’s determination to further expand these partnerships in the coming period.

Addressing regional and international issues, Erdogan expressed hope that ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States would be resolved through dialogue, stressing the importance of establishing a negotiating framework to ease hostilities.

On the situation in Gaza, the Turkish president said Türkiye would play an active role in ensuring the proper implementation of the Gaza peace plan, with the aim of restoring peace and stability in the region.
