Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Attend World Urban Forum in Baku

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is set to participate in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place from May 17–22, 2026, in Baku, according to media reports citing Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Gurbanmammet Elyasov.
Turkmenistan will showcase its achievements, ongoing projects, and future plans in the field of urban development during the global event. The country’s exhibition is expected to highlight major urban initiatives undertaken in Ashgabat, along with the innovative “smart city” project Arkadag.
Officials said Turkmenistan aims to present a comprehensive model of sustainable urbanization that integrates state-led strategic planning, social development priorities, and the adoption of modern technologies.
The World Urban Forum, organized under the auspices of UN-Habitat, is one of the leading international platforms dedicated to urban issues. It brings together policymakers, architects, urban planners, and government representatives from across the globe.
WUF13 is expected to play a key role in advancing the global agenda on sustainable urban development while fostering international cooperation and knowledge-sharing in urban planning and city management.
