Kazakhstan, Qatar Reaffirm Strategic Partnership, Expand Cooperation Across Key Sectors

Doha, The Gulf Observer: Yermek Kosherbayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, held talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during his official visit to the State of Qatar, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional and international issues of mutual interest.

According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, the two sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of the Kazakh-Qatari strategic partnership, emphasizing the importance of enhancing political dialogue, expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, and deepening cultural and humanitarian ties.

Both ministers underscored that sustained high-level engagement continues to play a pivotal role in advancing bilateral relations and ensuring the effective implementation of agreements reached between the two countries.

Investment cooperation featured prominently in the discussions, with both sides highlighting the need for timely execution of joint projects in priority sectors, including energy, telecommunications, digital technologies, agriculture, and transport and logistics.

Yermek Kosherbayev described Qatar as a close and reliable partner for Kazakhstan in the Arab world, noting the strong political dialogue, mutual trust, and strategic nature of bilateral ties. In response, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani praised the steady progress in relations and reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation across key sectors.

The two sides also highlighted growing cultural and humanitarian cooperation, welcoming the successful hosting of the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Qatar earlier this year as a significant step in fostering mutual understanding and closer people-to-people ties.

Discussions further touched on the rise in mutual tourism and the importance of enhancing direct air connectivity between the two countries to support greater mobility and economic engagement.

An in-depth exchange of views was held on pressing regional and global developments, particularly the evolving situation in the Middle East. Yermek Kosherbayev reiterated Kazakhstan’s consistent position that conflicts should be resolved through political and diplomatic means in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.

He also welcomed Qatar’s efforts to promote dialogue and peaceful solutions in the region, expressing Kazakhstan’s readiness to offer Turkistan as a platform for peace negotiations.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination within international and regional organizations, including the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, noting the alignment of their positions on key global and regional issues.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening multifaceted cooperation, advancing joint initiatives, and giving new momentum to Kazakhstan–Qatar relations.
