President Ilham Aliyev Receives UAE Delegation, Reaffirms Strategic Partnership

Gabala, The Gulf Observer: Ilham Aliyev on April 28 received a high-level delegation led by Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, reaffirming the strong and growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, President Aliyev hailed the successful development of Azerbaijan–UAE relations across multiple sectors, emphasizing that bilateral ties are built on mutual trust and strategic cooperation. He highlighted his close and friendly relations with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recalling reciprocal visits between the two leaders, including the UAE President’s visit to Garabagh, which he said significantly contributed to strengthening bilateral engagement.
The Azerbaijani leader noted the importance of the UAE delegation’s visit, describing it as a key step toward further enhancing cooperation and expanding partnership opportunities between the two nations.
Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri conveyed the greetings of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Aliyev, who expressed appreciation and requested that his own greetings be extended to the UAE President.
The UAE Minister of State also congratulated President Aliyev on being awarded the “Gernika Award for Peace and Reconciliation,” recognizing his efforts in advancing peace and dialogue in the South Caucasus, particularly in relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In response, President Aliyev expressed gratitude for the recognition and recalled his receipt of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, which honors the humanitarian legacy of the UAE’s founding leader. He asked that his thanks be conveyed once again to the UAE leadership.
Both sides underscored the breadth of the bilateral agenda, describing it as comprehensive and dynamic. Discussions covered cooperation in political, economic, and trade fields, as well as energy, renewable energy, joint investment initiatives, and military collaboration, including joint exercises.
Regional developments were also addressed during the meeting, with both parties stressing the importance of resolving tensions in the Middle East through diplomatic means and dialogue.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Azerbaijan and the UAE to further strengthen their strategic partnership and deepen cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest.
