Samruk-Kazyna, ExxonMobil Review Strategic Energy Projects and Expand Cooperation in Kazakhstan

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna, held a meeting with Peter Larden, Senior Vice President of ExxonMobil, to discuss ongoing and future cooperation in Kazakhstan’s energy sector, according to the Fund’s press service.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the current status and future prospects of major joint oil and gas projects, particularly the Tengiz and Kashagan fields. Discussions focused on increasing production capacity, commissioning new facilities, and addressing key oil transportation challenges.
The talks also underscored the importance of advancing joint social initiatives. In the Atyrau region, around 300 women have been certified as trainers under the international FIRST LEGO League programme and are actively teaching children engineering and robotics. A further 300 women in the Mangystau region are expected to receive STEM training later this year.
In addition, ExxonMobil extended its support to the Group’s charity marathon, with funds raised earmarked for the establishment of inclusive classrooms for children with special needs.
Headquartered in Irving, Texas, ExxonMobil is one of the world’s largest oil and gas corporations and has been operating in Kazakhstan since 1993. The company is among the country’s earliest major investors in the energy sector and holds stakes in key projects, including Tengizchevroil LLP, the North Caspian Project (Kashagan), and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
Earlier reports indicated that Samruk-Kazyna also held discussions with CITIC Group regarding the expansion of cooperation and the launch of joint projects, signaling continued efforts to strengthen international partnerships.
