President Prabowo Reaffirms Commitment to Improving Welfare of Indonesian Fishermen

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to giving greater attention to fishermen across the country, while emphasizing the need to improve their welfare and recognize their contributions to national food security.
Speaking during an inspection visit to the Red and White Fishing Village (Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih/KNMP) in Leato Selatan, Gorontalo City, on Saturday, President Prabowo expressed appreciation for fishermen who face dangerous conditions at sea to support their families and communities.
“I understand that fishermen face great risks. The sea is no joke. Weather can change, currents can change. You risk your lives to earn a living for your families, your communities, and your nation. I thank you,” the President said, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.
President Prabowo stressed that his administration is determined to improve the welfare of Indonesian fishermen and ensure they receive the respect and attention they deserve.
He noted that fishermen have long remained among the groups receiving insufficient government attention.
“For that reason, I am determined to improve and respect our fishermen throughout Indonesia. Fishermen are often forgotten,” he said.
The President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting grassroots communities, including fishermen and farmers nationwide.
“The current government will pay attention to all fishermen and all farmers throughout Indonesia,” he added.
