Algeria Participates in UN Anti-Corruption Sessions in Vienna

Vienna, The Gulf Observer: On May 21 , 2026 Algeria, represented by Salima Mesrati, will participate starting Monday in two major United Nations sessions on combating corruption at the headquarters of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria.

According to a statement issued by the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Fight against Corruption, Mesrati will head an Algerian delegation comprising officials from the Authority and representatives of the Ministry of Justice.

The delegation will take part in the 17th session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, as well as the 17th session of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption.

The statement noted that Algeria’s participation reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and exchanging expertise and experiences in the areas of corruption prevention and anti-corruption efforts. It also underlines Algeria’s continued engagement in United Nations mechanisms dedicated to implementing the provisions of the UN Convention against Corruption.

Discussions during the sessions are expected to focus on several priority issues, including access to information, strengthening integrity and anti-corruption education among children and youth, and tackling corruption in sports within the framework of the 2026–2027 work programme of the subsidiary bodies of the Conference of the States Parties.

The Authority further emphasized that Algeria remains committed to promoting the principles of integrity and transparency while seeking to benefit from international best practices and successful experiences in implementing preventive anti-corruption measures.
