Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the security and freedom of maritime navigation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz during a telephone conversation between their foreign ministers.

According to an official statement, Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and his Iranian counterpart discussed issues related to maritime security and regional stability, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safe and uninterrupted navigation through the vital waterway.

The two ministers underscored their shared commitment to safeguarding maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with their sovereign responsibilities over their respective territorial waters and in line with international law.

They stressed that ensuring the security and freedom of navigation in the strait remains essential for regional stability and the smooth flow of international trade and energy supplies.
