Azerbaijan Speaker Holds Series of Meetings on Sidelines of IPU Women Parliamentarians Conference

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians in Belgrade, Serbia, focusing on expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening multilateral engagement.

During her meetings with IPU President Tulia Ackson, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Pere Joan Pons, President of the Senate of Zimbabwe Mabel Memory Chinomona, newly elected IPU Secretary General Anda Filip, IPU Vice President Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, Executive Committee Member Karen Bradley, IPU Bureau President Cynthia López Castro, Vice Speakers of the Moroccan House of Representatives Nadia Touhami and Zaina Idhali, and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Mauritania Siham Najem, discussions focused on the role of women parliamentarians in strengthening international cooperation.

The talks underscored the importance of the Global Conference as a platform for enhancing collaboration among women legislators worldwide and promoting greater engagement in parliamentary diplomacy.

Participants also emphasized the significance of multilateral forums in advancing cooperation between national parliaments and international parliamentary organizations, as well as deepening bilateral relations between legislative bodies.

The meetings reflected a shared commitment to strengthening dialogue and expanding cooperation within global parliamentary frameworks.
