Oman, Kuwait Hold 11th Joint Committee Session, Sign Cybersecurity and Standards Agreements

Jabal Akhdar, The Gulf Observer: The 11th session of the Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee convened in Jabal Akhdar, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, under the co-chairmanship of Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah.

The session reviewed the longstanding fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Kuwait and explored ways to enhance cooperation across a range of priority sectors, including economic, commercial, cultural and scientific fields, in line with the aspirations of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait.

In his opening remarks, Sayyid Badr said the meeting was being held in implementation of the directives of the two countries’ leaderships to deepen bilateral cooperation and expand the exchange of expertise and experiences in pursuit of greater integration and partnership.

He noted that the regular convening of the Joint Committee reflects the strong support it enjoys from both leaderships and serves as an effective institutional framework for advancing cooperation to more comprehensive and advanced levels.

For his part, Sheikh Jarrah highlighted that 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Oman and Kuwait, describing the milestone as a testament to the steady growth and development of bilateral ties rooted in deep historical bonds, shared values and common aspirations.

The two ministers affirmed that Omani-Kuwaiti relations represent a model of sincere brotherly ties among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, founded on mutual respect, appreciation and constructive cooperation. They stressed that such relations contribute to strengthening joint Gulf action and reinforcing the GCC framework.

At the conclusion of the session, the two foreign ministers signed the official minutes of the 11th Oman-Kuwait Joint Committee meeting. The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding on cybersecurity cooperation and an executive programme in the field of standardisation.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries, including Sheikh Ahmed Hashel Al Maskari, Head of the GCC Department at Oman’s Foreign Ministry, Dr. Saleh Amer Al Kharousi, Oman’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Hamad Rashed Al Marri, Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for GCC Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Nasser Al Hajri, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Oman, and other officials from the foreign ministries of the two countries.

The session underscored the shared commitment of Oman and Kuwait to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in support of mutual development and regional stability.
