President Berdimuhamedov, Kazakh Foreign Minister Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan received Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yermek Kosherbayev, on July 1 during the minister’s official visit to Turkmenistan, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendly and good-neighbourly relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Kosherbayev thanked the Turkmen leadership for the warm hospitality extended to him and underscored Kazakhstan’s strong commitment to deepening its traditionally close ties with Turkmenistan.
The Kazakh minister conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to President Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people. He also expressed admiration for the architectural development of the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat.
President Berdimuhamedov thanked the visiting minister for the message and asked him to convey his warm regards and best wishes to President Tokayev.
Highlighting the significance of the ongoing consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, President Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the outcomes of the visit would further reinforce the friendly and mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations.
The two sides noted that Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan maintain active cooperation both bilaterally and within major international and regional organisations, including the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
They also emphasised the importance of continued coordination through the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Central Asia+ regional cooperation format in addressing common regional priorities.
Discussing bilateral cooperation, both sides highlighted the important role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in promoting closer ties. They noted that the commission’s most recent meeting in Astana contributed to expanding opportunities for trade, investment and the implementation of joint projects.
The meeting also underscored the growing importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, with both countries expressing interest in further enhancing collaboration in education, healthcare, science, culture and sports.
Concluding the talks, President Berdimuhamedov and Foreign Minister Kosherbayev reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening Turkmen-Kazakh relations in the interests of both nations and exchanged best wishes for continued peace, prosperity and cooperation.
