Tokayev Tasks New Foreign Minister with Strengthening Protection of Kazakh Citizens Abroad
Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed newly appointed Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi to strengthen the protection of the rights and interests of Kazakh citizens abroad and advance the country’s national interests.
According to media reports, Tokayev received Tileuberdi to discuss key priorities for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following his appointment to the post.
During the meeting, the President outlined key tasks for the Foreign Ministry, including the consistent promotion of Kazakhstan’s national interests and the further strengthening of the country’s balanced foreign policy.
Tokayev also called for greater emphasis on economic diplomacy and the expansion of multilateral cooperation, highlighting the importance of strengthening Kazakhstan’s engagement with international partners.
Particular attention was given to improving the effectiveness of measures aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Kazakh citizens abroad.
The meeting also covered the schedule of upcoming international events in which President Tokayev is expected to participate.
Tileuberdi was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs by presidential decree on September 2, 2026. His appointment comes as Kazakhstan continues to pursue a balanced and multi-vector foreign policy while placing greater emphasis on economic diplomacy and the protection of its citizens and national interests overseas.
