Saudi Arabia, Canada Discuss Enhancing Defense Cooperation During Ottawa Visit
Ottawa, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs Khalid Al-Biyari held talks with Canada’s Deputy Minister of National Defence, Stefanie Beck, during his official visit to Canada, focusing on strengthening military and defense cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Canadian Department of National Defence in Ottawa, reviewed the current state of bilateral defense relations and explored opportunities to expand cooperation across various military and strategic fields. The two officials also exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
As part of his official engagements, Al-Biyari visited the University of Ottawa, where he was briefed on the institution’s advanced artificial intelligence programs and research initiatives. University officials highlighted the academic and medical applications of AI, underscoring its growing role in innovation and healthcare.
During the visit, the Saudi assistant minister also met with Saudi physicians from the Ministry of Defense’s health services who are pursuing higher studies at the University of Ottawa. He reviewed their academic achievements and training progress, commending their efforts and encouraging them to continue contributing to the development of the Kingdom’s healthcare and defense sectors.
The visit reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to deepen international partnerships in defense, education, and advanced technology while strengthening cooperation with Canada in areas of shared strategic interest.
