UN Secretary-General Congratulates Tajik President on Adoption of International Decade of Strengthening Peace Resolution

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has sent a congratulatory telegram to President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon following the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution proclaiming the International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036).
In his message, the UN Secretary-General congratulated President Rahmon on the adoption of the resolution and commended Tajikistan’s commitment to promoting global peace through multilateralism, dialogue and international cooperation.
Guterres noted that the initiative comes at a time of profound global challenges and builds on the commitments made at the 2024 Summit of the Future and reflected in the Pact for the Future. He stressed that the initiative sends a strong message on the importance of investing in peace, conflict prevention and solidarity for the benefit of present and future generations.
The UN Secretary-General also praised the efforts of the Government and people of Tajikistan in resolving conflicts with neighbouring states, describing such efforts as an important contribution to strengthening a culture of peace and respect for international law.
Guterres reaffirmed the United Nations’ support for Tajikistan’s efforts to advance cooperation among nations and promote peaceful relations based on dialogue and international law.
He concluded the telegram by conveying his highest consideration to President Emomali Rahmon.
