Azerbaijan, Algeria Discuss Prospects for Expanding Parliamentary Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova held a meeting with Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Khalida Boufedeche during her working visit to Serbia.

Gafarova congratulated Boufedeche on her election as Speaker and wished her success in her new responsibilities.

The meeting featured an exchange of views on the current state and prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria. Both sides highlighted the potential for further developing bilateral ties and commended the successful cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.

Particular attention was paid to interparliamentary relations. The sides stressed that reciprocal visits and meetings between parliamentary speakers and lawmakers play an important role in strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding relations between the two countries.

Gafarova praised the effective cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Algerian parliaments within international parliamentary organizations.

The Azerbaijani parliamentary speaker also spoke about the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan. She noted the network’s significant achievements in institutional development and in strengthening its international standing under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
