President Aliyev Highlights Scale of Azerbaijan’s Humanitarian Demining Efforts
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan is carrying out large-scale demining operations across its liberated territories, President Ilham Aliyev said on Wednesday.
Addressing participants of the 4th International Mine Action Conference, themed “Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements,” President Aliyev highlighted the scale of Azerbaijan’s ongoing mine-clearance efforts.
He said that more than 298,000 hectares of land have so far been cleared, while 260,147 mines and unexploded ordnance have been detected and neutralised.
President Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan is adopting advanced technologies, innovative approaches and modern management systems to enhance the speed, safety and effectiveness of demining operations.
The President underscored the importance of humanitarian demining in facilitating the recovery and reconstruction of the liberated territories and ensuring safe conditions for the return and resettlement of communities.
