Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina Opens US Open 2026 Campaign with Victory
New York, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan’s top-ranked women’s doubles player Anna Danilina has made a winning start to her campaign at the US Open 2026, securing a first-round victory alongside her Serbian partner Aleksandra Krunić.
The Kazakh-Serbian pair, seeded third in the tournament, defeated Chile’s Alexa Guarachi and Egypt’s Mayar Sherif in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6 (9-7).
The closely contested match lasted exactly two hours. Danilina and Krunić recorded three double faults and converted three of their 12 break-point opportunities, while neither player served an ace.
Danilina, currently ranked No. 6 in the world in women’s doubles, and Krunić will advance to the second round, where they will face the winners of the match between Germany’s Tatjana Maria and Türkiye’s Zeynep Sonmez, and Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova and Australia’s Talia Gibson.
The victory adds to Kazakhstan’s strong presence at the final Grand Slam tournament of the season. Earlier at the US Open, Kazakhstani player Alexander Bublik advanced to the third round after defeating France’s Adrian Mannarino.
Danilina has established herself as one of Kazakhstan’s leading doubles players on the international stage, and her latest victory keeps her and Krunić in contention for another deep run at a Grand Slam tournament.
