Oman Participates in GCC Ministerial Council Coordination Meeting in New York

New York, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the coordination meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council, held at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Oman was represented at the meeting by Ambassador Omar Said Al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Abdullatif Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and President of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council. The meeting was attended by representatives of the GCC member states and Jassim Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The meeting reviewed key issues of common interest and coordinated the GCC member states’ positions on matters scheduled for discussion during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The participants also discussed preparations for joint ministerial meetings between the GCC countries and a number of states and international groupings.

In addition, the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international developments and emerging trends, particularly their implications for the security and stability of the region.

The participants further explored ways to enhance joint Gulf coordination and cooperation in addressing current regional and international issues and challenges.
